Founder · Khabar

Nineteen Egyptian fashion brands. Each one competing completely blind to the others.

I set out to give them sight.

Scrape every store, rank the discounts, ship a dashboard.

However, this would be a bad path.

Why?

The data would always lie — and the sight would be worse than blindness.

The discount

"Was 500, now 300."

Every site says it. But the brand types that "was" — and inflates it, so the discount is permanent theater.

Chase it, and you bleed real margin fighting fake cuts.

What's actually selling

Either hidden, or simply never published.

The one thing every merchant wants to know — and for that reason, you can't get it. At least not easily.

No honest source. Anywhere.

And the deepest one

Catch 22.

A dashboard shows the brands your picture — but those brands are your customers. Show them, and they hide from you. Or worse: they game you, and distort it.

Your signal dies faster the more you sell.

Backwards.

Three dead ends. One real problem.

Fake prices. Missing stock. A mirror that punishes success. I stopped patching each alone and asked what they shared.

All three trust what the market says about itself.

I decided not to mirror the market.

I decided to audit the market.

The move

Trust nothing a brand types. Count only what Khabar witnesses — the price it watched fall, the product it watched vanish.

~400KProduct catalogue

Not only can I see the measured, not the reported, performance.

I can also compare the two — and spot the deception.

A pricing tracker quietly became something rarer:

the only citable truth in a market built on marketing copy.

Seeing clearly was step one, a good solution

A true picture still has to survive — and pay for itself.

Simply, the good solution must be a good product.

What it costs to exist

A solo founder's real enemy is the bill that arrives before the first customer does.

I architected it to run a full year at zero dollars.

Why it holds together

I stitched several free tiers into one system — then kept re-tuning it to balance value, defensibility and staying free.

Business needs and real constraints, reconciled by design.

Built without a technical co-founder — but Claude Code

I directed every system decision, without writing the code myself.

4 Site technologies, working in harmony

One problem worth naming

Nineteen brands, no shared language for color or naming. "Sky Blue" on one site, "Baby Blue" on another — same color, no way to compare.

Without reconciling it, cross-brand comparison is impossible.

The solution

I built a system that learns from human correction — the same principle used to train AI models with RLHF.

96%Color coverage
89%Color-family normalized
